SLVR Grade-to-Bid Addendum
This Addendum applies when a member opens a Grade-to-Bid session or submits a Grade-to-Bid bid. It supplements the SLVR Terms of Service and the Buyer & Seller Agreement, which continue to apply in full. Where this Addendum conflicts with those documents, this Addendum controls for Grade-to-Bid activity only.
1. What Grade-to-Bid Is
Grade-to-Bid is a sealed-bid process in which invited members submit a grade opinion and a binding price for a coin, and the seller may accept one of those bids. A session is a way of discovering a price. It is not an auction, an appraisal, a certification, a guarantee of value, or an offer by SLVR to buy or sell anything.
Grade-to-Bid is offered as an invite-only pilot. SLVR may change, suspend, or end the pilot, and may grant or withdraw participation, at any time.
2. Eligibility and Invitation
Bidding requires an active SLVR account in good standing, a valid shipping address on file, and an explicit invitation from SLVR. An invitation may carry an expiry date, after which it lapses automatically, and may be withdrawn at any time. An invitation grants access to Grade-to-Bid only. It does not change a member's tier, fees, pricing, listing allowances, or any other term of their account.
3. A Bid Is Binding and Final
A submitted bid cannot be amended, withdrawn, or cancelled. If the seller accepts it, the member is obligated to buy the coin at the bid price. Members should treat every bid as an irrevocable commitment to purchase at the moment it is submitted.
A member may not bid on a session for a coin they are selling.
4. The Bond
Submitting a bid places a bond equal to the full bid amount. The bond is debited from the member's available SLVR balance at the moment the bid is submitted, and that SLVR is held and unavailable for other use while the bond is held. Promotional or otherwise restricted SLVR cannot be used to place a bond.
A bond is never forfeited. It has exactly two outcomes:
- Released.Returned in full to the member's available balance. This happens whenever a bid is not accepted — including when the seller accepts a different bid, declines every bid, lets the decision window pass, or the session fails to attract the required number of bids.
- Applied. If the seller accepts the bid, the bond is applied to the purchase price of the resulting order.
5. Sealed Bids and the Reveal
Bids are sealed. No bidder can see any other bid, and the seller cannot see any bid, until the reveal. All bids on a session are revealed at the same moment, or none is.
A seller sets a bidding window between 12 and 168 hours, and a minimum number of bids. If the window closes with fewer bids than that minimum, nothing is revealed to anyone, the session is cancelled, and every bond is released.
6. Blinding
A session may be run blinded, meaning bidders are shown images of the coin with identifying holder and certification detail cropped out. Blinding is prepared by the seller and confirmed by the seller before a session opens. SLVR does not warrant that blinding conceals every identifying feature of a coin or its holder, and a bidder who recognises a coin is not thereby relieved of any obligation under this Addendum.
Sellers must not misrepresent a coin through the images they submit, whether blinded or not. The Buyer & Seller Agreement's description and authenticity obligations apply to a Grade-to-Bid coin exactly as they do to any listing.
7. The Seller's Decision
After the reveal the seller has 48 hours to accept a single bid or decline all of them. The seller is under no obligation to accept any bid. If the seller does nothing within that window, the session expires, no sale occurs, and every bond is released.
Accepting a bid is final and creates a binding order between the seller and the winning bidder.
8. A Grade Opinion Is an Opinion
A grade opinion submitted in a session is the personal judgement of the member who submitted it. It is not a grade assigned by a grading service, and it does not certify, authenticate, regrade, or revalue the coin. Nothing about a session changes the coin's actual certification or its holder.
SLVR does not grade coins, does not verify grade opinions, and does not endorse or adopt any opinion submitted by a member. A member who relies on another member's grade opinion does so entirely at their own risk. Disagreement with a grade opinion, or a later grading result that differs from one, is not by itself a basis to unwind a completed sale.
9. Settlement and Delivery
An accepted bid becomes an ordinary SLVR order. It ships, settles, and is protected exactly as any other marketplace purchase, including the standard claim window and the seller's shipping obligations. The session determined the price; it does not change anything about how the sale is performed.
Disputes about a delivered coin — condition, authenticity, non-delivery, or a coin that does not match its description — are handled under the Buyer & Seller Agreement and SLVR's ordinary claims process.
10. Fair Dealing
Members must not coordinate bids with other bidders, share or solicit bid contents before a reveal, bid without the intention or the means to complete the purchase, or use a session to manipulate the apparent market value of a coin. SLVR may cancel a session, release bonds, withdraw an invitation, or suspend an account where it reasonably believes this section has been breached.
11. Pilot Status and Changes
Grade-to-Bid is under active development. SLVR may cancel any session and release all bonds where it is necessary to correct an error, address a suspected breach, or respond to a technical fault. SLVR may amend this Addendum; material changes will be published with a new effective date, and continued participation after that date constitutes acceptance.
